I went into the basement storage room to look for a winter bin and the light timer clicked off behind me.
The room went dark fast.
Not movie dark, but enough that every cage and box turned into the same shadow.
My phone was in my coat pocket, and both hands were already holding a plastic bin halfway off the shelf.
I tried waving one elbow toward the sensor.
Nothing.
Then I had to slowly put the bin down and feel along the wall for the switch.
Somewhere nearby, a pipe clicked, which did not help my dignity.
When the light finally came back, I was standing between two storage cages like a raccoon caught in a flashlight.
I left a note asking them to fix the timer before someone got stuck in there for real.
