My Move-Out Elevator Reservation Vanished

The INSIDER

I booked the service elevator for move-out week and took a screenshot because I do not trust portals with my blood pressure.

Good thing.

On moving morning, the reservation was gone.

The schedule screen showed another tenant in my time slot, and my movers were already double-parked outside with the truck open.

I went to the desk and showed the screenshot.

The person there looked at the screen, then at my phone, then said the system must have refreshed overnight.

That was not comforting.

My couch was wrapped, my boxes were stacked, and the elevator I reserved apparently had amnesia.

We waited in the lobby until the other move finished.

The movers charged me for the extra time.

What this gets at

What’s actually happening here?

This has turned into a records dispute. The fight is over what can actually be proved.

Why does this usually get worse?

A thin paper trail lets the charges sound firmer while the proof gets harder to pull together.

What do people usually do next?

Rebuild the record. Move-in photos, receipts, and itemized requests keep the dispute tied to documents.

When does this cross a line?

This crosses a line when the deductions stop being specific and stable. A real charge should not feel slippery.
