I shut the kitchen cabinet after putting away mugs and heard a tiny snap.
The magnetic catch inside had popped crooked.
The door closed for one second, then slowly eased open again like it had unfinished business.
I pressed the catch back with my thumb and tried the door again.
Same thing.
Close. Pause. Creep open.
I even held it shut for a slow count of ten, because apparently I was negotiating with a cabinet.
The second I let go, the door opened and the mugs stared back at me.
I gave up and looped a rubber band around the handles overnight.
