The doorbell camera looked normal until I tried setting it up in the app.
It said the device was already registered.
Not to me.
I stood in the hallway holding my phone, staring at the camera beside my own door, wondering who still had access to it.
The office said the previous tenant probably forgot to remove it from their account.
Probably is not a great word when the camera is pointed at my doorway.
I asked them to reset it or take it down.
They said they would contact the vendor.
So for the rest of the night, every time I walked past my door, I looked at that little black lens and wondered if it was still someone else’s notification.
